The Components

Energy storage in the Eco-Habitat System

All components of the MiraSolaris Eco-Habitat System use the thermal activation of parts of the building (walls, ceilings and floors) for the optimized use and accumulation of solar thermal energy. This technology is based on the favourable thermo-physical properties of concrete. Because of this, the entire body of construction can be used to store solar energy.
The MiraSolaris Eco-Habitat System can be constructed entirely or in modular parts with thermal active units. The more concrete components are used as thermal active units, the more free solar energy can be accumulated and used.

Thermal activation for solar insulation of the outer walls

paverblock-wand-grau

The outer walls of the Eco- Habitat System are erected with special storage building blocks (see image) or prefabricated parts whose inner construction enables the thermal activation of the concrete mass.
In this way all outer walls of the building can be used to store solar energy at a rather low temperature level (20 °C) during the heating period. Because of their high specific heat capacity the external walls can take in sufficient solar energy even from diffuse daylight and store it for later use during the night. In this way the rooms are thermally decoupled from the cold temperature outside.

Thermally active ceilings and walls

geschossdecke

In the MiraSolaris Eco-Habitat System the ceilings, inner walls and foundation plate are made of concrete and are thermally activated. This large volume of concrete serves during the winter period as short time store of solar energy for a temperature range up to 30 °C.
So the energy of a whole invernal sunny day can be accumulated and due to the concrete's optimal phase difference it can be spent with delay and slowly in the adjoining rooms.

The thermally active parts can be used, if desired, for summery cooling also.

Passive soil storage unit for seasonal heat accumulation

Passiv-Erdspeicher

The passive soil storage unit below the building is a good value and low-loss seasonal storage unit that can store the superfluous solar energy of the summer months for the heating period. In this way it serves for the insulation of the building against warmth losses and in addition helps to avoid the overheating of the solar panels during summer and protects against frost in winter.
